Student Handbook

The MCSD Student Handbook has been developed for the purpose of informing students and parents of the policies, procedures, and organizations of their school.  It is the responsibility of each student and parent to read, understand, and abide by the handbook. All policies listed are subject to change because of Monroe County School Board or school administrative action. Students shall be notified when such changes occur. 


MCSD Sharepoint Portal

Monroe County School District staff can access the MCSD Sharepoint Portal at: https://portal.monroe.k12.fl.us/ . Once you click on the link, you will be asked for a user ID and password. Your user ID is the same as the user ID used for Outlook Web Access - (mcsd\user), with your network password. Once you log on, you may be asked to click at the top of the page to install a Microsoft add-in. Do this. Click yes when asked to display secure and unsecure information. Please contact your site technician if you have problems or questions.

This is a research must!! Teachers and Students have individualized access for searching - aligned with standards. The search can be read to slow readers and can be changed to different languages. This site allows saved and shared searches.


America's Historical Newspapers (1690-2000) provides both a timeline and topic search covering issues and events, discoveries, inventions and more from daily life in the colonies and the Revolutionary War, to the Civil War, Reconstruction, World War I, World War II, Civil Rights Movement, Globalization, and other eras.  Please contact your school's media specialist or social studies teacher for login and password information.

Houghton Mifflin Harcourt's ThinkCentral allows Grades K-6 students to access class work from home. Students and teachers can log in with the same user ID and password used at school to access all resources available to them.

Reading Smart is a multicultural literature-based Web site designed to provide supplementary reading materials for the English as a Second Language (ESL) classroom.
Renaissance Place - Web-based access to Reading and Math Programs: STAR Reading and Math, STAR Early Literacy, Accelerated Reading and Math, English in a Flash, and Fluent Reader.
FCAT Explorer is a practice and skills reinforcement tool based on Florida’s Sunshine State Standards. Public school students and teachers can use the FCAT Explorer free of charge. So, log on and put the FCAT Explorer to work for you.
NovaNet - Credit Retrieval and GED practice - requires a client installation before using.

Student Internet Viewer - Track Your Progress
Most teachers use GradeBook, an electronic system for recording grades and attendance. A component of GradeBook, the Student Internet Viewer, allows students to track grade and attendance information.  The high schools are now online. If you need specific directions, contact your teacher for your student user ID and pin number.

Teachers now have access to new online reading (K-4), math (K-8), and science (6-12) curriculum. The courseware is web-based and is correlated to Florida's Standards.
