School Public Accountability Reports

September 17, 2010

Dear Parents, Guardians, and Community Members of Monroe County:

No Child Left Behind (NCLB)  federal legislation (with which Florida is in compliance, per s. 1008.31[1][c], Florida Statutes) requires that school districts provide parents with an annual school status report prior to the beginning of each school year.

Each year schools in Monroe County continue the school improvement process by developing a strategic School Improvement Plan, addressing Florida’s System of School Improvement and Accountability goals, with special emphasis on Goal Area 3, which addresses student performance. It is imperative that all of us have the best information available in order to make wise decisions about the programs and services provided to our students.

The following updated web-based reports contain information about Monroe County  Schools and the students who attend the schools.  Research has shown that students are successful in schools that have active participation from parents, business and community partners, and other volunteers. Volunteers have contributed thousands of hours to help provide the very best educational opportunities for our students. We solicit your input and questions. Your involvement is essential to the success of our students and to the continued improvement of our schools.

Summary Reports

2009 - Adequate Yearly Progress - Summary Report

The No Child Left Behind Act requires states to evaluate the performance of all students in all schools in order to determine whether each school and district has made adequate yearly progress (AYP).

Specific criteria for AYP evaluation are described. All schools that do not make AYP are identified. Each school's AYP determination is based on measures of the performance of the overall student population as well as that of students in defined subgroups: racial/ethnic groups (Am. Indian, Asian, black, Hispanic, and white); students eligible for free/reduced-price lunch; English Language Learners (ELL) students; and students with disabilities.
